Five Things You Should Know About Weight Loss Tips.
Green Vibration keto The weight loss industry is a multi-billion dollar money-maker that, by all accounts, is failing. Need proof? Just take a look at the rate of obesity worldwide. If the weight loss industry were doing its job, these numbers would be going down, not up. In fact, the realities of the weight loss industry are far scarier than even these numbers indicate. To start, let's take a look at four of these facts that those at the top are desperate to keep from you:
Fact: The Industry Is Failing
The statistics don't lie; people are getting fatter, not slimmer. However, despite the utter failure of these methods, the industry continues to produce the same, or similar, 'fixes' and branding them anew. I mean, how many fad diets, 12-week challenges, and new and improved exercise plans will we accept before we admit that none of it works?
But what's even worse is that this failure goes unchecked because of willful blindness on the part of the very people these plans are purported to protect. This blindness has occurred because of deep seeded beliefs that the industry continues to promote (i.e. the ONLY way you can lose weight is through specific programs). What ends up happening? People are following diets, trying exercise plans, and still getting fat!
Fact: These Plans Are Designed to Fail
The very idea of a plan unto itself is flawed because human nature is such that it rebels against the thought of following someone else's idea of what's 'right'. There is a term for this, 'counter-regulation', but I just call it the 'what the hell' effect. In essence, the human mind reacts in a very specific way towards efforts meant to control it. When faced with a controlling force, such as a diet or exercise plan, they will put up with the control for a finite period of time, but then their individuality and need for freedom kicks them in the behind and they say enough!' and lapse. But rather than just deviate slightly by skipping exercise for a week or indulging in that one piece of cake, they take it fully over the top and say, 'what the hell, if I'm gonna blow this I might as well go all the way'. In this way one piece of cake becomes the whole thing and a week without working out turns into several months.
Fact: Rewards-Based Motivation Fails
Almost every major industry standard weight loss plan relies on motivation or 'rewards' for good behaviour. This, despite the fact that every study on the topic proves that rewards demotivate us. Basically, by taking the onus of goal achievement and putting it outside the self (a phenomenon known as extrinsic motivation) people are less likely to feel compelled to reach their goals. They are more likely to look for short cuts to achieve the reward rather than actually achieve a goal in an honest way, dangerously short-term attitude that can become addictive. Indeed, the most successful among us, whether in weight loss or career are the ones who are intrinsically motivated. That is, their desire to achieve comes from themselves, not some external reward.
Fact: The Monetary Success of the Industry Continues the Propagation of Lies
I've said it once and I'll say it again: the weight loss industry wants you to fail. It is only through failure that you come back for more, spending more money and continuing the vicious cycle that lines their pockets to the tune of billions of dollars a year. What's more, it is not just the weight loss industry who benefit from people remaining overweight, the medical industry relies on the exact same failure which gets you sick and gets you into a doctor's office.
